Slap and pop

Okay, so I've been learning slap and pop recently, but I have one big problem. Also, I'm learning on 4 string. Anyway, when I slap the E-string it's fine, but when I move to the A - G strings the other strings ring through. Any suggestions as to solve this problem??

First, I would take a look through the slap-bass welcome center as it has a plethora of information. Second, just practice scales going up and down, E-G strings. You will learn that muting with the right and left hands is necessary, but will become less necessary as your thumb becomes more adept at precision slapping (only hitting the intended string). Good luck and have fun.

Less necessary, yes. Never NOT necessary, though. Think about it - if you bump your bass on the stand while it's plugged in, you hear all the strings ring through the amp, right? Same thing is going to happen when you hit your bass with your thumb. Muting is where it's at.

Depending on the thumb angle you use strike though the A or D string and rest on the string below it. That will mute that part. Muting the strings above it can be done many ways.

Practice... (it usually works even though it can be a pain some times...)
