Slap, pop, and blisters...pop?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I started playing slap pretty regularly starting about a week ago, and I developed a pretty sizeable blood blister on my middle finger. My question is: Am I popping too hard? It's pretty raw now and I want to practice but I don't want to pop it and make it worse (I'm a 4 shot a day diabetic so I can't really afford it getting worse) and my main question was is this normal? I've heard about people getting blisters on their thumbs but never the middle/pointer finger though.

Yes, when I started I was getting huge blisters, and still if I'm involved on intense practice occasionally get them. It's nothing to worry about, just keep them cool, they'll die down and leave you with a callous. Just don't go to hard practicing while you've got one and you'll be fine.

I got them on my thumb but never on my fingers from poping. I play a little harder though. A lot of slappers drop the action real low, play very lightly and turn the volume up. The string on the pop basically slides off the ball or tip of the finger. It's all what works for you. Blisters suck but do come with the territory. Go easy for a bit.
