Alright so I think my slap technique might be wrong after a few years. I hit the top of the string and usually my middle ring and pinky finger are sticking straight out Kinda like in this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVRcE...eature=related
Anything wrong with this?

ps that vid is not of me

Well, if you can play like that I think it's fair to say that you're not doing anything wrong. Nice stuff. Regarding the 'sticking out fingers' thing, a lot of slap players do that - Stu Hamm does it quite often, and it's something I've found myself doing over the years as well, usually if I'm popping with my first finger. I used to think it looked a little silly so i took the time to practice making sure i didn't do it!

Again though, nice playing.

That guy has some massive hands.
I'd stick my fingers out too if they where that long.

That kind of sounded like it was a Nintendo game soundtrack - maybe a car chase or something.

It looks like he's flipping me the bird while he's playing, which he probably should be because I can't play like that.

Guys, what he does is not that hard if you slow it down. Dont choke on small bones man, keep your Funk mind open.

If you're just a-thumbin'/thumpin away, its fine, but check out the end of the tune when he gets redy to pluck, he makes a fist. As a student of slap, I tend to keep my hand in a fist as I;m never doing just one technique like him ( one slap technique, not the little chord tapping).

SO while not much is wrong, you can't transition to plucks. If you're all thumb thumpin' like that clip, it dont matter none. That dude's got some long arse porn star fingers, he aint got no room to stash em! Too big actaully.

But fist it for the plucks. When you start doing open hammer plucks, you're thumpin', hammering, and plucking two or more triplets in a row. Aint going to be doing that all hanging' out like that.
