Slap/Strum ...new technique?

Sign in to disble this ad
While practicing, I came across a new technique. At least, I think it is new. I call it a slap/strum, where I slap a string while *simultaneously* strumming a chord. I do this by making the devil-horn sign with my right hand while flicking my middle and ring fingers for the strum. While flicking, I slap with my thumb.

I don't know if this is new or old hat, but, I thought I would share.

Thanks for the tip. It's not new but as an alternative method and more relaxing hand technique would be slap with your thumb, relax the rest of your hand and use your hand that's limp to do flamenco style struming rather than have the devil horn thang going on. But what works for you is cool, just some advice to save some small fatigue.

Claypool's done this before. Check out Primus if you need to.
