Hey, Bruce:
I've been thinking about this a lot lately, but the reason (mostly) any of us make music is for the enjoyment of our audience, as well as ourselves. Sure, there are some (few) who are content to just record, but I'd venture to guess that almost all of us get a charge out of getting an audience going, grooving, singing, dancing. And that's always what rock has been about. So, I think it's great that kids pick up on Flea and all his antics, at least they're watching a talented musician. And maybe through gaining familiarity with bass (a lot of the general public can't isolate it in the mix), they'll be turned on to the Marcus Millers, Jacos, Vic Wootens of the world.
As for the starter of this thread....huh?! I don't even know why he bothered to expose his own misguided opinions. I concur, listen to some Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones), if it helps 'cuz you're a kid, they open for Dave Matthews all the time, as well as Phish, and countless others; Bela even jammed with Big Bird on Sesame Street!
That is all..... |
