Question Slapping help!

i have become fairly decent at slapping and popping but i am havind trouble with the thing where u sort of slap/mute with the left hand on the fretboard . when i do i either get 0 sound or i hit a note. i need the left hand muthe-thing down otherwise i have a lot less depth to my slapping. any advice or links would be appreciated

victor wooten has some lessons i'm sure you could find on youtube. if not him, i'm sure someone does. just check out some vids there and sooner or later you'll hit on one that addresses it.

A lot of this just comes with practice and getting the feel of it in your hands in order to actually make it audible and "feel" to the listener.

Lay your left hand's index finger across all the strings (this mutes the strings and prevents unwanted harmonics) and then slap the strings with the ring and pinky fingers of your left hand...at least I think that's how I do it. Now that I actually think about it, it's kind of hard to put my finger on it...

This gentleman has become my fav. teacher....I don't know his history, or credentials, but his way of teaching just "connects" with me.

+1 on MarloweDK on youtube. He has the best instructional vids on Youtube that I have found! He seems so cover EVERYTHING also!
