Slapping Technique...

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been working on the exercises from Wooten's site, and I have gotten the open hammer pluck thing down...

So now I want to more plucks to it, like get 16th notes out of it or something.

For the past 20 minutes, I've been hammering the E, then plucking the D with my index then G with my birdie finger just trying to get the basic idea instilled in my head.

If I have not totally confused you with my incoherent rambling yet, what else could I be doing to get the double pluck thing up to speed?

Give me the URL to Vic Wooten's site please. I didn't know there was such a thing.

There are slap lessons available?

um, this thread even has technique in the title. You think maybe we'd belong in technique?

Another thing about Double thumb and double plucks, that vic himself says, and it holds true. "use the economy of motion" if you go through the string go up and back through it with your thumb, and then have your fingers just pluck in that same sequence.

Slap bass isn't just about beating the hell out of your instrument.. If you have nasty blisters, you should take it easy... and while your thumb may become soar, you should stop there to prevent nasty blisters..

I prefer the use of a fairly light slap technique, it helps me keep the speed up as well as my stamina...
