Solid vs Virtuoso

I'm in the middle. I love solid bass, but with flashes of bass virtuosity. To be honest, I prefer providing the solid, dependable backing. I'm a huge Geddy fan, so I wonder how you bass people measure the way you "flash" and "get solid"???

I don't understand why there is a conflict, you can practice both. If practicing things that make you more solid then practice virtuoso stuff and vice versa. Solidness will get you work at in increments of pay (depeding on how solid you are). Virtuosity will either do nothing or everything for you.

If you practice at both, you will get better at each.
