Some advice needed on evening up my pick attack.

If you listen to the end of this relatively brief clip, you can hear the notes ring uneven on different strings. It sounds like I have some issues with my pick attack, but could this be a problem with how close the strings are to the pickups? If not, what should I do to try and even out my touch techniquewise. Are there any exercizes I could do to help this?

Here is the clip:

I really need to get into a band. If I'm not practicing regularly with a band, all I do is end up noodling and writing songs. Not the way to get my timing up to snuff, either

You could get a limiter or a compressor, those actually help that a good bit. Its natural to have some unevenness because hey, you're human.

When you start playing with a band then you will want to play more aggressively to punch through the mix ...

Listen to The Who Live at Leeds ... and specifically Entwistle's pick work ... he is very over the top aggressive ...

Listen to Chris Squire with Yes ... he also has a lot of attack ...

And listen to Geddy Lee ... even though he plays finger style he gets a lot of attack as well ...

I found that trying to play cover songs as close to the studio version(as long as they played with a pick) helped me get my pick attack more consistent. First song I ever learned how to play on bass was Chick Magnet, by MxPx. The bassline sounds really cool, but it's extremely easy to play, and Mike Herrara plays with a pick, so his stuff is pretty much what I learned pick attack with.

edit-now that I think about it, Chick Magnet is actually what I'm playing in my avatar
