OK we been practising. Three ones we've got nailed, well the bass player has anyway:

Faces: Stay With Me

Lenny Kravitz: Are You Gonna Go My Way (7-5, 5-3 all the way whatever key)

Cult: She Sells Sanctuary

Yeah? We got two g*******s who argue who's playing lead or rythym, whilst me and the drummer just look at each other and laugh. Might need a singer though.

Don't do a gig without a singer, people that aren't music geeks will seldom approve, and find you boring.
Some AC/DC perhaps?

.
Stay With ME : Good Rock song, fab bass line. Thunder or Def Leppard version is better IMO.
Are You Gonna Go My Way : I love the bass line over the guitar solo!! I think it's what makes the song for me. it took me some time to work it out.
Funk #49 by The James Gang/Joe Walsh is another one that I'm working on.

Get a singer

you know whats a good song? covering instrumentals. when my band was starting out(not too long ago) the first song we covered was schism by tool, and that was a bad idea.. its a great song but the first 3 minutes is pretty much the same riff over and over again, with slight variation, some people might find that boring, but the last 4 minutes of the song is heavy enough to bring thr crowd back(i hope)

the other 2 songs we are covering are Orion by metallica and crystal mountain by death, it has lyrics but its pretty baddass enough that u dont really need lyrics,

Are You Gonna Go My Way - JPJ played that with Lenny at some music awards show. Supposedly when Lenny asked him to play he said "When our bass player left, I figured 'why not get the guy I ripped it off of in the first place.'"

Train Kept A Rolling. It's the first song Zeppelin played when they met, it's dead simple and it rocks.

Sunshine Of Your Love. Pure riff, one of the guitarists can have fun soloing over it.

Should you care what people who aren't music geeks think? There's so much good instrumental music out there (mostly thinking of post rock, explosions in the sky for instance) i really don't feel the need to have someone singing in their songs
