Speed & Accuracy excercises

A couple guitarist friends and a drummer I know are looking to start a new band, kinda like Racer-X/Liquid Tension Experiment with the fast technical riffs, but not just stealing their sound... I'm not quite as good as them when it comes to techincal stuff, so I need excercises and tips to take my technique game up a few levels, and build some chops if that's what you want to call it...

Anyone that can play that kinda stuff, what excercises (or other things) work for you? I could probably do with a strict practice plan cos otherwise I'll just kinda lose commitment to it. Also, any tips on gear setup or little pointers on technique that might help are appreciated! Thanks!

Heres an idea, dont play as fast/technical as them. It might create a really cool sound for your band by having a funky bassist with technical members

Nice idea but I doubt it'd work!

There have to be more excercises people are keeping to themselves!

Seriously, this is the best method for speed, accuracy, scale work, etc. I've done it for years, and Pacman describes it well.

Pacman's sure-fire scale practice method

When all else fails: play scales, modes and arpegios 2+octaves (http://www.activebass.com/ click on "basics") with a metronome. Start slow and increase speed.
