| | | | He actually doesn't - it's a common misconception. He only uses two fingers and only appears to move the third. |

but actually hitting down rather than plucking wich is why i think he gets the -clatter- effect from hits frets.
anyone else with some ideas?

I just use the strict alternating two finger technique for the gallop (i-mim-imi-mim...) and can keep up just fine, at least for a little while. Whatever floats your boat. |

| | | | He uses 2 fingers, it's been stated in plenty of interviews.
The unique thing about that little bass solo in Run to the Hills, he normally doesn't play riffs like that, I hate to say it (esp because I'm such a huge fan) but that was kind of the last original sort of solo he had done (up until his little XFactor bass solo).
He's all stamina though, that's his sound. |

| | | | yeah he only uses 2 fingers but i've seen others play iron maiden songs with triplets by using three fingers. when i play run to the hills i do the fast triplet part in the beginning with two fingers. just practice over and over and get the right rhythm and u'll be able to do it. i've tried playing with three fingers and it annoys me so much. |

Done right, you can get damn fast- like tremolo picked death metal fast. So for galloping I always go 3-2-1 but I also find that I tend to follow my frethand direction with my plucking too... so going up the fretboard I play 1-2-3, but down it's 3-2-1. |

You're action doesn't have to be set high to get that sound, my action was ridiculously high when I was a kid and I still got that claking sound.
Someone needs to corner micheal kenney. |

It's not something that happens to him, it's a part of his sound. I try to mess around with stuff like that myself, but it's very hard to get consistant...
