m-i-m m-i-m m-i-m m-i-m
OR
m-i-m i-m-i m-i-m i-m-i
I've gotten the first method up to speed, but I really think the second would use less energy...how do you guys play them?
Up the Irons!

Middle finger is 2.
Ring finger is 3.
i go
3-1-2--3-1-2--3-1-2.
Weird, but very comfortable and easier imo, and yeah thats another thing 3 fingers=way easier, way more speed, way more stamina

for the sake of theory ....the gallop is not a triplet ...it's based on 16th notes
1 (e) + a , 2 (e) + a
all 16th notes are played except the 2nd after the down beat - e |

| | | | I do m-i-m-i-m-i-m or r-m-i-r-m-i
and for the record his signature rythm pattern isn't a triplet it is a galop two 16th notes and a 8th note. |

| | | | I use second method: m-i-m-i-m-i-m-i.
Had never even thought of the first.
Just tried the first method real quick.
I need more practice, but my mind can't seem to get that. Keeps trying to go to the second. Makes more sense to me to alternate fingers, its faster, and more natural for me. I don't have to think about it at all. |

The only other question is were they brought to us by African or European swallows? |

ring-middle-index ring-middle-index ring-middle-index ring-middle-index ring-middle-index
Feels really natural to me. |

| | | I'm pretty sure Steve plays m-i-m-i-m-i-m because m-m-i-m-m-i-m would physically be more limiting in terms of speed.
Then again, 3 fingers has the least limits and is way easier...
EDIT: funny that most people start with the ring or middle finger. I always thought starting with the index finger is "more natural"

For songs like "The Trooper" or "Run To The Hills" I use strict alternation, starting with my index finger. Quote:
