I play in a country band. So I'm usually playing two-beat country (root and fifth) or Walking Bass (quarter notes ).

I've never heard about shuffle eights. Could someone enlighten me what those are? Thanks

I might play this a bit more staccato, but this is the idea.

I (+ most of the guys I play with) use to call those uneven eights.

hard to explain but easy to identify, think in straight eights the notes are exactly divided by 8 1 - and - 2 -and -3 -and- 4 -and, shuffle eights think in a eight note triplet and notes falling in the 1 and 3 of the triplet 1 e -and, 2 e -and , 3 e -and , 4 e - and ..

Well, that's a pretty good description of 6/8.

Well, it is about chastity and abstinence, fidelity, marriage, true love and sin.

I call that eights in swing, but I guess it's the same thing.

Lido Shuffle is a great song. Fun to play for sure.

I also like "Lowdown". Good, but simple, bass line in that song.

thats why I said is hard to explain, technically swung 8's are the equivalents of the first and the last note of a triplet, is a lazy-sounding eight note very easy to recognize in blues, you hold the first eight note a little more than the second eight, in straight eight notes both have same duration.

This my understanding:

Eights note shuffle in 4/4 ONE BAR

1 & A, 2 & A, 3 & A, 4 & A

6/8 THREE BARS

1 & a 2 & a / 1 & a 2 & a / 1 & a 2 & a

You have it exactly right. There are obvious similarities in these, but the feel is everything. You're either feeling 3 or 4, although you may be playing exactly the same thing written. Always defer to the ear ....and the drummer of course

Yah, but if you watch the video, the bride is pregnant. So the song don't work.
