AAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH.
I like wearing my bass HIGH. Heart-high.
Thing is that I play as good when I play low. Balls-low. I've been practicing.
Still, I enjoy having it high but wearing it high makes people think 'pfft, nerd' or somesuch. What do I do?

| | | | Wear it where you like to have it! if people think you're a bad musician because you like wearing your bass high..its their problem not yours...if your good, people will like your playing and not care about where you have your bass |

if going your own way and not following trends makes you a nerd then so be it. |

edit:when i meant high and low i meant on the neck/fingerboard |

edit:when i meant high and low i meant on the neck/fingerboard | I usually play sitting down, usually at my computer or something like that. I just set my strap so that my bass doesn't move when I stand up. So now when I go to play a show, it is no problem.

The kinds of people who make snide comments about it are usually the kinds of people who suddenly find they have no room to talk when I start playing.

I dropped my bass to where my right hand can reach the strings when my arm is just hanging down. From there, I pulled my left wrist back around towards me, so that it's straight, and my fingers wrap around the neck. Is this proper technique? I doubt it, but my wrists feel a lot better. It took a little getting used to, I used to have it at the height it'd be at if I were sitting. Now, I play just as well now as I did when I had the bass at the 'correct' height.

Set your strap to the correct height and protect your hands and wrists. Work on your hair flips and head bobs to look hip.

THE ANGLE OF YOUR WRISTS
they should be straight and comfortable when you are playing standing up.
NEVER practice sitting down "you lazy asses".
Do you gig sitting down.
This is part of developing your stamina. http://www.myspace.com/yieldspace | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
