String Height and Slapping?

Sign in to disble this ad
I made micro adjustments to the truss rod and lowered the bridge saddles until I got great playability.

The 12th fret E string bottom is about 5/64ths from the fret and I dont get any buzzing anywhere on my ATK.

But then I realized when I try to slap, I can only do it in the first few frets.

Is this a known limitation of low action? DO slap players use a higher action, or is there a trick to getting enough motion on the string for a nice consistent slap sound all up the strings?

Looks like you need to raise the action a little to get a good slap sound and feel.

Do you slap often? If so you'll need to get the compromise right between a good action for slapping and a good action for finger playing (or pick).
