String Tapping?

Sign in to disble this ad
When I tap the first and second strings on the bass. I can't get it to sound as loud as my lower strings. I don't know if I'm doing it right or if I'm not applying enough pressure. Help?

I get a good tone by not only hammering the string hard but also by holding my finger down on the string a bit longer (which won't be long if you're playing fast I know). but keeping the finger depressed right up until you hit the next note or even overlapping at times smooths it out for me. hope that helps. I never really noticed a volume difference among the strings, but I do have to turn up my overall volume when I tap compared to other styles.
