Styles other than rock/ jazz/ funk

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone

I'm quite new to this forum, but it seems to me that most people are into playing funk, jazz and rock styles. Are there any bassists here who play other styles outside this bracket? Examples? Folk, Hungarian, Armenian, Celtic, African styles like Zouk, Bikoutsi, Chimurenga, Jit, Latin American (I suppose a lot of that's quite Jazzy), - anything really, from far and wide..

Yes it's true. There are other styles of music than Jazz, Funk and Rock. Millions of people everyday all over the world listen to music other than Jazz, Funk, and Rock. Does anybody play any of this strange 'other' music?

Dance yay!

Metal is rock derived, and R&B is either funk or (as in Rhythm and Blues) Jazz/Blues.

Ambient is good though.

Depends on what type of metal you are listening to. If I heard someone playing dissonant arpeggios in rock music I'd crap myself.

If you would like to give the style a chance, there is a thread right in this section that is very long and has much information on metal playing.

As far as more tribal/ethnic playing goes I'm not really sure how much it is discussed here. All I can do is suggest you use the search function.
