Sweeping

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all. I've been trying to learn to sweep the last few days after reading up on this thread: How to sweep the bass? however I would like to learn some more patterns. I realize that they are just arpeggios, but theory is not my greatest forte so I would like to be given some direction. What I am basically asking for is some more shapes/patterns/arpeggios. Thanks.

Hey,
I been playing with sweeps for a bit now, I wrote a lesson on activebass if that's any help i'll pm the link to you.
Here's a couple of my patterns which may be of use:

This one will perfect your 2-octave minor sweeps, it pedals on a high A whilst moving Am, Bm, Cm, Bm

G --------5-9-14-9-5-----------------7-11-14-11-7---------
D ------7-------------7------------8----------------8------
A ----7-----------------7--------8--------------------8----
E 5-8---------------------8-7-10------------------------10-

G -----------8-12-14-12-8-----------
D --------10---------------10--------
A -----10----------------------10----
E 8-11----------------------------11-

G --------7-11-14-11-7----------
D -----8----------------8--------
A -----8--------------------8----
E 7-10------------------------10-

Here's another, this time based on a three stringed one octave sweep, chords are G#maj7 Gmin (inverted) and Cmin

G ------8-12-8----------8-12-8-----------12-15-12-----
D ---10--------10----10--------10-----12-----------12-
A 11--------------11---------------13------------------
E ------------------------------------------------------

G ------12-15-12------------12-17-12-----------12-17-12----
D ---12-----------12-----13-----------13----13-----------13-
A 13------------------15-----------------15------------------
E ------------------------------------------------------------

If you need any help with these lemme know, but if you just want some arpeggio based patterns then here ya go. Have fun.

Here`s one for 6 strings with tapping. I`ll see if I can get some notation for it down as well.
