Being a huge dream theater fan (and also soon to get a 6 string) ive been practicing my tapping technique. However the volume suffers quite dramatically. I guess this could be solved using a compression? However I was wondering if this was down to technique?

Work on it and you´ll see the outcomes...It´s possible to eaqual it with hardest slapping or poping...with a dose of effort of course. |

My future 6 is probably the trb 1006, is this a good bass for this style? Ive been told its a very versatile bass and it seemed it to me but whats your opinion?

I have medium light strings on my TRB with pretty low action.
With enough practice you'll build up your finger strength for tapping. My volume increases significantly when I tap compared to regular finger style. |

It will sound much better anyway and you will save practice time for things that matter. |

( If you need a pedal to tap correctly then you arent tapping corectly. Tapping is a technique and should not need effects to create. Though some techniques require pedals this one doesnt.)
