i am starting to have numbness in my left hand which i am concerned is the early stages of carpel tunnel.
my question is this, if i bring my bass up more will this help?
i wear it now about...what i would call "normal".
the center of the back of the bass is at the button on my pants.
if i bring it up will it help at all?

First, it's important to determine if this problem is bass related. Maybe give the bass a rest for a few days and see if the problem goes away. If it does not, then seek medical advice. Assuming it is bass related, generally the higher (as well as the angle of the neck) you wear the bass the straighter your fretting wrist will be, though the plucking hand will suffer. Where you are wearing it at the moment seems ok IMO. Perhaps you need to look at your over all L/H technique. Take a look at the link below for general guide lines on L/H technique.

+1 to fearceol and realise this, you need to see a medical pro to get this diagnosed correctly.

Now what you have maybe nothing to do with CTS, these are symptoms that can be shared with other conditions by the way, so it needs to be checked out. use the link below to check out the information on CTS at the top of this forum.
