Technique fail?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all. Not too sure where this goes but since i guess its has something to do about technique, it comes here.
Well, few days ago while practicing i experienced a sharp pain in my left wrist which lasted for a few seconds and for that day i decided to take a break. Next day, i went back into my usual warm up routine and got to the practice, and again i got that same pain, just that it wasn't as bad as the first time. Its something i'm currently worrying about. Should i be concerned about this?

On a side note, i'm looking to purchase a drum machine. Like those kind of stuff that has a large library of drumbeats stored in them and acts as a metronome as well for my practice. Any suggestions as to brands and models out there?

Thanks in advance!

Well that usually is a sign that something is wrong. Maybe you're pressing too hard or keeping your wrist in an uncomfortable angle?

Ooh, one reply, Lol. Anyways was diagnosed as a ligament strain/stretch. And i was on a wrist guard for a week, weird. From now on, i'm gonna make sure i do proper stretches before playing.

Anyways, i'm still looking out for those drum machine suggestions. Any of you guys out there have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Oh man, I had severe problems from practicing all day long, and then getting in the van in the evening and playing gigs everyday. I did myself some bad damage over those few years...

Here's a link to my stretches I do before I practice now. They have kept all problems away. I also recommend a simple warm-up, like going through some scales slowly, and then speeding up:
