I've been wondering about the different techniques some of you finger players use. I know some places sell finger exercisers but idk how well they work for fingerstyle bass playing. What are some of your methods for playing faster and more accurately?

Play 16ths very slowly and practice getting control so you can play each note with the same feel and tone. Practice doing this loud and soft on one note. Then gradually start to speed it up. As you as you feel uncomfortable slow it down to concentrate on the movement of your fingers.

In general I'd say slow passages down and really think about what your fingers are doing and eliminating unnecessary movement. Also relax.

very good advice there. hand strengthening does help, but that's how you learn how to control it.

I bought one of those, used it for 2 weeks and decided I would be better spending my time doing fitness exercises on my bass. You don't really need strength beyond a certain point but more endurance and flexibility.
