Techniques & Tools for Live (loud) ABG Playing

Took my Tacoma Thunderchief to a blues jam last night. I love the sound, but just can't seem to get the volume up where it needs to be without constant feedback. Anyone have any suggestions? (Beyond using another bass that is!) Anyone know if someone makes a soundhole plug for these? I'm thinking of fabricating a homemade one but it wouldn't be pretty. What about just foam muting the strings? Would kill some of the sound options but if it allows me to use this bass live, I might give it a try. Especially since it wouldn't be a permanent thing.

pretty sure someone makes feedback plugs for those, but where you stand and in what orientation to your amp makes a big difference.

You really just need to find the resonant frequencies and kill them. Experiment with EQ.
