Yeah, it's not completely right, but its close. Try slapping your thumb on the end of the fretboard where the body meets the neck. Should bring out the sound a bit more.

Also, practice things slow before tyring them up to speed.

Yeah you should be slapping between the neck and the pick up- not between the bridge and the pick up. It also looks like you are exerting way to much energy- you'll tire yourself out and you might break your G string popping that hard.

Your bass looks totaly cool.

muting sound comes from the left hand... you should be slapping the fretboard

no i use my left hand to mute, i.e slap then slap again without fretting the note, but still touching the string so it just gives a thud

nice one! i'll bet i cost a load?

yeh one more bit of advice, which isn't really necessary but hey. If you ever learn victor wooten's double thump technique, then i would recommend attacking the actual fretboard. i play it round abut the 19th fret (on a 24 fret)

just thouht i'd tell you before i forget

You can/should also mute the lower strings with the meaty part of your right hand.

For example: If you are thumbing the A string you can't mute the E string with your left hand so you'll ahve to rest your right hand on the E string while you thumb the A string.
