Unhappy Tendonitis Problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all, recently i was diagnosed with tendonitis, took a month or two off playing, and have been receiving physio and accupuncture for my problem - the recovery process is ongoing and slow.

I was recently asked to join a very good local band - these guys are going places; they have in excess of 27k myspace friends and almost 1 million listens on their player.

I have had some very good advice concerning technique from my college tutors, and have attended to almost all the problems that i believe caused the tendonitis in the first place, such as - wrist angle, strap height, back and neck posture, and most importantly the pressure i use to fret and play the notes.

When i am practising in my bedroom, all these things fall into place fine; if i feel myself playing too hard, i just check and release some pressure, however, at practise with these guys, i am having to learn a lot of material and find that the process of remembering the songs really impedes my ability to regularly assess my tehcnique during practise, and as such has caused the problem to flare up again.

Has anybody else experience similar problems and have any ideas on how to combat them?

Regards, Rytch

You have likely already been given all the usual advice. Remember to warm up, stretch a bit, and consider training with the Alexander technique if you can find someone local who is trained properly in it.

I had carpel tunnel & a local body worker gave me exercises similar to these. These really helped.
