Thumb pains and angle

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, a couple years ago before i started playing bass i think i dislocated my thumb or something and popped it back in wrong. So its a couple degrees off. Not much and you can barely tell. And when i I'm playing bass i can't get my thumb to hold against the neck flat. Well after playing to long my thumb starts to hurt insanely because i cannot get it flat and it bends back (can't keep my thumb straight).

The main thing I'm wondering is if its my thumb or just me? Its only a bit off so would it make that much of a difference? Is this a common problem? I haven't been playing very long. Only a bit over half a year (got my first head and cab yesterday) and its a bit discouraging that after half a year i can't get my thumb right.

Ideas? Tips? Help?...
