thumb resting on a 5 string

hey

for those who play a five string, how do you rest your thumb when playing the e-string. do you rest it on the pickup or on the b string or a different place entirely? What if there is no time you play the b string in the line at all and are just using the e string and higher?

On the B string, muting unused strings is very important IMO.
Do a search on "floating thumb" technique.

I mute the B with my thumb while I hammer away on the E. For the rest of the strings I rest on the pickup.

I usually just keep it on the pickup, but I might have to try this resting it on the B string while I play in order to mute it. I don't really have much trouble with it as is, but if it works it works.
