Thumb Training Recommendation?

I just had a great opportunity come my way. I'm an older guy (40+), been in and out of the music business for years, played guitar since I was a tyke... studied classical, played in rock bands through the 70's and 80's. I picked up the bass a few years ago, and just recently started getting serious about it, but never studied the slap technique. My right-hand technique is strong (probably from all those classical lessons), except when it's time to get funky and slap.

So, here's the question for everyone: Considering the style of music, a mix of classic rock, funk, hip hop and metal, what is the quickest way for an otherwise experienced player to get those slap chops? A Jim Lee DVD? Kidnapping Flea?

Check out the song, "Popsicle Stick" at http://jam-l.com for a taste of what I'm up against.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

When I got my gold membership, Paul provided a
set of lessons on slap through Tony Oppenheimers
website 'Slap It Online as a gift.

I think the lessons are also available for purchase.
This is the link.

Slap has never been part of my repertoire, so I decided to live
dangerously and check it out.

I sent 60 I think. IIRC.

I didn't see the offer on the page anymore, you would have to check with Paul to see if the program is still available.

Ah, but those were the old days. I hear nowadays you can just eat some of Victor Wooten's DNA and you'll be playing like him in no time!
