Do you play with your finger tips,or do you use the fleshy part more further back?

I actually use both, when playing faster its better to just use the tips i think, but if you want a heavier tone use the fleshy part

When I'm playing over one string, I normally use the tips. But when I'm skimming over multiple strings, I regularly bar down my fleshy part to hit a note on the higher string.

I attack the strings in a million different ways. Rather than messing with dials, knobs, and EQ I would rather adjust my attack. I play at various points between the bridge and the end of the neck. I use the tips, flats, side of the index like on an upright, and I even use my index and middle finger like timpani mallets near the bridge at the end of some songs.

Do what works for the song.

Joe
