Tony Levin jam vid,interesting technique.

This is the first time I've seen those.What are these things Tony Levin uses here called? They must be brass or something similar by the way they sound,kinda like a slap ring.

Also,how does one play with these?If I were playing with them I'd be hitting all the strings and trying to mute the rest for sure.

Enjoy the vid. by the way,it's pretty much awesome.It's Tony Levin afterall.

ps:I recognized John Petrucci's guitar work here and there,it sounds like a mix tape though.Anyone have an idea?
