Tony Levin...the rare BruLev Duett

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello gentle people!

Our bass-community is currently very intensively discussing the so called 'rare BruLev Duet' of Tony Levin and Bill Bruford. You will find it on Tony's homepage under www.tonylevin.com/stuff.html the third link under 'Media'.

Despite we have a set of very seasoned professional bass players in our European community we were up to date unable to determine how Tony played this jam.
The discussion started in our 'Slap'-forum but since no one has ever seen him slapping (let alone double thumping) we guessed that this might have been his famous 'funk fingers'. But where did the fast pops come from?

Does anybody know more about this duet?

thanks for you input

-JR

P.S: I've already mailed Tony twice about this but he's a very busy man...

He definitely uses "Funk Fingers" on this. I saw him do this live during the "Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman & Howe" tour in Toronto in 1989. Amazing musician. Saw him live in 2003 with his solo band and got to meet him afterwards. Very cool guy.

Many Thanks!
Some of us have guessed that this were the Funk Fingers!

Does anyone know if Tony will ever produce them again for the public?

cheers

Funk Fingers FAQ says:
