Hey guys,
I just wrote an intro to a song, and I absolutely love it. The biggest problem is transitioning it. My band plays pretty fast paced Prog Metal (But not overly complex like a lot of prog) But I honestly can't come up with a way to stop the riff and move onto a verse type thing. It's in C# Minor. Any suggestions on how to make a proper transition or should I just start off normal and move into it as a solo?
Thanks! |

Gospel keyboardist would be a good source on how to wing an introduction. First 8 measures with a iii, vi, ii, V7, I turn-a-round works for Gospel. Metal, perhaps not, but, part of the tune (First 8 bars of the chorus) with a turn-a-round seems like a good place to start.

Troubled, Coltrane talked to Miles Davis about it. "How do I finish my solos?", he asked. ''John,'' Davis replied, ''Put the horn down.''

| | | | Not to derail the thread, but what do you mean "overly complex"? Isn't prog supposed to be complex?
I don't know what kind of metal you play, but if it's fast paced, maybe you can through in a light breakdown or some fast notes over an interesting double bass drum rhythm. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
