Question "Trombone like" tone(Funky Monks)

Does anyone have any advice on getting that "trombone like"?
A good example is Fleas sound 4:30 into "Funky Monks" off of
"Blood Sugar Sex Magic"

He used a Music Man Stingray 5 to record that part. I think, for some reason, the coli-selector switch was set to parallel, but have no idea about the EQ settings.

If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to serve as a horrible warning.

As I cuddled the porcupine he said I had none to blame, but me.

IMO, that part in "Funky Monks"(which to me sounds like Flea doin' Jaco) is plucked back by the bridge with force behind it(i.e. not the 'light-touch' espoused by some here at TB).
If you're using a Jazz-style bass, blend the pickups so more of the bridge pickup is apparent...& pluck back by the bridge.

Brave New Bass, edited by Chris Jisi, has a profile on Flea & the above section of "Funky Monks" is transcribed.

back pick up, all the way. Other great players like Jeff berlin and Shaun malone have that same tone. I think its a awesome tone, and it cuts well too. Back the bass frequencies off too. and fool with the mids, depending on type of pickup and bass, and amp for that matter you got.
