Trouble with Technique

Haven't been playing long, still in total learning mode. Having a problem where I can't lift my fingers off of the bass strings without getting sounds. I am getting good at silencing a strind when going to another, but it just seems I should be able to silently lift off fingers. Have tried differen't methods and speeds to no avail. Any tips would be appreciated.

Even when you're muting the string with your right hand?

Mute with your plucking fingers, mute with your other fretting fingers, and fret as close to the fret as you can.

If you are getting noise all the time you might be pressing too hard.

Try this. Try and play as light as you can with the left hand, but still hold down the string and produce a good tone. See how this feels compared to your currrent grip. does it feel different, if so you you might be pushing down too hard so that when you release the string you are getting the noise.
