| trying to jump 4 string to six

Ive had a six for a while and really like it, the added range is great (and I really like the tone I can get with it). I can play some pretty difficult stuff but my band is a semi technical/progressive whatever metal band and everything is geared towards drop D tuning. Playing what use to be simple with open D all the time is proving extremely hard anyone have any suggestions? my aim and speed are slowly getting better but ahh its frustrating
