tuning/setup experienced opinion for an all around recording bass needed

Hello guys, I have a standard C tuning fender jazz.
I played it for a specific kind of music in a band (something like alternative/rock/grunge).

I left the band.

Now I am starting to procude my own songs. My songs cover lot of different generes (Rock-Pop/Electronic/etc).

Then I want an all around setup bass with carachter that fits great in most situations.

Can I use the standard C setup?
Do I want to change my setup to another?

Please give me your opinion.

Different tuning changes the harmonics and C is very low.
At the same time I don't really want to buy a second bass (for many reasons)

Thank You in Advance

Just retune it and re intonate it. Your thinking about this WAY too much.

As long as you're comfortable with the alternate tuning, the way your bass is set up, and the way it sounds, you probably don't need to change anything, especially if you are creating your own original songs.

IMHO, an 'all around recording bass' should be in the main 'all around recording tuning and pitch' for versatility and adaptability. But that's more focused on ease of playing with others or recording for others.

But if you're only doing it for yourself then it doesn't really matter what tuning or setup is on the bass.
