The Two Fingered Shuffle Blues

Sign in to disble this ad
Forgive the rudimentary nature of this question:

I've struggled to "two finger shuffle" for what seems like forever. I'll go along fine for a few measures but then my middle finger will spazz out and flip me the bird as it were. (Not really a spasm, but just inaccurate pressure, timing, or whatever.) But I can shuffle fairly well one fingered. "The hook" ala King Jamerson though still nowhere near his feel and touch. So should I keep trying to perfect/convert to two fingered or should I just admit defeat and work on improving my single finger method?

No don't give up it's a common problem if you do not understand the techniques involved, see the link for some helpful info.

Play something verrrryyyy basic in front of a mirror and look at your finger.

I just don't know what else can be done, I play with two or three finger for 12 years now, it is a second nature. My teacher taught me to play that way during my first years of playing bass
