unusual double thumpig / thumbing problem with nails hitting strings during popping

Sign in to disble this ad
hi guys,

i have this problem with the pop/s during double thumbing / thumping.

on a 4/5 string, whenever i play on the G, it's not really a problem but when i move to different strings, the nails of my pointer and middle finger keep hitting the higher string (ie the G when playing on the D etc).

i was wondering if anyone else has encountered it cuz from where i'm from, i don't think anyone i know has had this problem and scouring the net hasn't gotten me any help either. i also showed this to a friend of mine who's from berklee and he was stumped too. i dont know if it's just the way my fingers or nails are or what. and it's really really bugging me cuz i'm stuck doing the double thump double pop on the G string. granted, yes i can do it on other strings if i do it fast since the "nail noise" isn't really noticeable but then when i go slower, it's very evident and ruins it.

did a quick google seach for pictures, not really sure how much this helps but my nails look like the right most on on the top.
