It's always been "up" for me. I had never thought of this before. I'm gonna definitely try-out "in" as soon as I get home.

i think the way i play is a bit of both - i pluck, but at the same time i push down.

Up for me, but ive heard Down/In is called typewriter fingerstyle? i had a phase of that a while ago.
