Used to love the blues in E, now I hate it, lol

I remember when I first started to play bass (and guitar for that matter), when one would propose a blues jam, I'd always request in E. When you start out, It is probably the easyest to play along to, and not make too many mistakes.

However, now, I really hate it. I play a 4 string (5 string would be different), and that unfretted low E isin't cool at all, plus many of my chops (automatic patterns in blues & disco) can't be done on that low E. On a higher E octave, just sounds off many times. Anything on F# or higher fit on all those cool ''I don't even have to think about it'' patterns.

I think I need a Morpheus for bass, lol

Get a 5 string ... Then playing in F E and Eb is a whole lot easier ... not to mention D and Db.

+1

It's one of the main reasons that I love the 5er.
