Yep.... if you go to you tube and watch the bass day 98 video's (video#1) you'll actually see him do it. He does press the string off of the fretboard and then it comes in contact with the splitcoil pup cover and makes a "beep" noise. You can also get the exact same noise by simply pressing the string onto the pup cover lightly.
