Volume Compensation when switching styles

How does everyone here compensate for the volume changes when you change playing styles?

I switch styles a lot -- fingerstyle, slap 'n' pop, strumming and finger picking all usually within a song. Volume is inconsistant, especially because the slap and pop gets quieter the higher I play up the neck while finger picking and strumming get louder. Fingerstyle is consistently the loudest, but also the easiest to control volume wise. Playing harder or softer isn't really cutting it (I can only finger pick so loud before it starts sounding like crap), then my signal-to-noise ratio goes to crap and little things like string noise get amplified very loudly.

Also, how do you mix in tapped artificial harmonics with slap and pop and without getting either lost or hitting too hard to maintain precision?
