Watch those fingers!!

Sign in to disble this ad
When I first started playing with my band I was using cheat sheets to guide me through the songs. So when I played I was staring at my sheets. Now I don't use those sheets but I stare at my fingers!! I was laughing at myself last night thinking about this. I don't have to watch my left hand when I need to read my notes but take away my notes and I stare at my hands!! Seems like I'm leaning on a crutch I don't need! Glad I picked up on this so I can work on it. Anybody ever have an experience like this?

i do in both senses, i used to use cheat sheets, only because it made me have a sort of security blanket, now that i don't need that crutch there are some songs we do that i watch my left hand extensively, kinda bothers me a bit i guess but i am just satisfied hitting the right notes i guess.

At most of my gigs my left hand is more interesting than the audience.

I stopped looking at my left hand when I started singing lead in a band. it doesn't look good to be singing and staring at your hand!

The good part about that was I had to learn the fingerboard well. I almost never look at my left hand when I'm playing now.

I look at my left hand to make my right hand jealous, even though I'll probably go home with both.
