weird question, annoying problem

Sign in to disble this ad
hey, when i do slap bass, i have to keep my fingernails really short, cause it lets me slap without getting the nail caught.

now, over time, i have been cutting it shorter and shorter, to the point that it is so short now that it is painful. and if i let it grow back, there will be excess nail hanging off the finger because of how short it is currently.

so, i know its a weird question, but, any solutions to this? any way to get a callus or something on the tender area of the finger? should i let the nail grow to a comfortable length then tape it?

all suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Stop cutting it shorter every time?

Seems like a stupid answer, but...

You definitely don't want nail "hanging over" but you don't need to cut them completely off either. Try to find a happy medium.
