I don't understand how technique gets like this.
I really hope we can all leave him comments and make him feel bad out about his playing.

I'll tell you how technique gets this bad. Just read 5 threads out of the general instruction forum and you will see this over and over again:
1) Learn how to read music right away
2) Learn all of your modes
3) Learn the circle of fifths
4) Learn arpeggios

No where in there is learn how to use your left hand, where to put your right hand, how to adjust your strap, left and right shoulder functions and anything else related to the mechanics of playing.

There is a HUGE misconception that studying bass is the first list above, all of which can be done without your instrument in your hands and is not bass specific. I don't know how many hours I spent with my double bass and bow in my hands just playing long note on the A string.

So the problem with bad technique is people don't think they have to crawl before they can walk or run. Just because you can make a bass noise here only means you are a bass operator. All of the above examples in this thread (with the exception of Spector Man) illustrate that.
