If you tune like the rest of us it would make it easier to communicate. But, you can do what you want. No rules here.

Enter at your own risk, I was just seeing if my camera would pick up my bass without issue.

It is easier to say ... "the riff is AAAABBBDDDEEE" than "mirror this, 2nd fret G strings then 2nd fret A strings then open string on the D string and then 2nd fret D string" or "look at my hand ..."

I don't know but it makes very boring cr*p. My ex guitar player was always in very wierd tuning so telling me the name of the chords or what the notes are in his wierd chord worked better than trying to match the movement of his hand.

the tone of your bass sounds great, but you didnt have the camera down on the neck so we could see what strings you are hitting.

maybe the next one

I was hanging out mainly on the thinnest string, if that's any help.

Tune however you want, I guess! As long as it doesn't lead to confusion if other people follow you for chord changes or whatever then I don't see the problem.

And here in the OP you seemed like you were afraid people would slam you or something. I love how no one is judgemental, the only real concern being that your don't harm your bass.

As long as your instrument won't be ruined, do whatever works for you and makes the magic sounds come out of the amp.

As long as you know what you're playing, and you don't mess up your bass, you'll be fine. I might tune like this before I buy a violin.

If you're creating your own music, keep the tuning you currently use. If you want to play covers, tune it the traditional way. That's what I would do, anyway. It seems to me it would be pretty difficult to play many songs, in a tuning that far from standard.
