do not use these talents in stores.
this is your last warning....i lost my brother because he played "higher ground" in a store.... j/k....
Theres a few good books on this subject that are good for learners and even lay out notes in the usual way and the dreaded TAB. as well as coming wit a cd.
They came in useful for me... |

Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)" Sly and the Family Stone
Lost in Emotion - Lisa Lisa & the cult jam (I know its kind of corny, but its good practice)
Just the two of us - Bill Withers
nice simple slap groove towards the end of the song
Turn it on - Level 42
off their 1st album. Towards the end as well. simple solid slap bass.
Freetime - Spiro Gyra
and when you get a little better...
Peg - Steely Dan
Nice fluid hammer on lines.
Night Rhythms - Lee Ritenour
Off his "Festival" album. Marcus Miller plays a simple but effective bassline with lots of feel. |

(mad love for P-nut) fun song to play over all, good mix of technique, i think.
and if you want something to keep you busy(i mean busy), try "Squeeze Me Macaroni" by Mr.BUngle, it should keep you off the streets for a while, its not easy, by any means, crazy a$$ed progressions, very agressive song, if you like slap, this song will kick you in the arss. i love it.
but if you hear something and you like it, just try playing it, if you need help, get some, but dont let it scare ya off. get crazy with the s#!T.

| | | | man
get the groove down with the fingers because if ya don't have that first you'll never find it with slap.
words from vic wooten 'you gotta have the cake before you can have the icing'
dig it
sounds like if your borrowing someone elses bass and it has dead strings, your not investing enough effort into it and therefore forsaking the fine art.
try havin a listen to jaco, wooten, stanley clarke bootsy collins, larry graham and even stu ham.
