Looking for a good and preferably cheap metronome to add to my practice time. Any suggestions?

Remember, you will hear it for many, many hours and you want the practice time to be pleasure, not torture for your ears. |

The Peterson Bodybeat is a unique metronome that uses a vibration (like your cell phone or video game controller) instead of a click. I like it a lot. Unfortunately when it does sound aloud it's the beep and not the click.
I have a $20 "Quartz Metronome" by Qwik Time that gets the job done. It doesn't have interesting subdivisions or anything, which really are useful for getting different feels, but it has a nice, solid click and no interminable beep.
I also have the Korg MA-30, which I got based on the reviews on Amazon. It's great, has lots of nice features, but it beeps rather than clicks.
+1 the Weird Metronome.
Alvarez's tuner sounds great, though it has the chirp/beep rather than the click? Yech.

I ordered the bodybeat however because it was hard hearing the metronome when slapping.
I also use my PC from time to time. |

I think it helps my rhythm more than a standard drum machine precisely BECAUSE it's so annoying. The high-pitched beep cuts through the mix and your ears can't easily filter it out.

Handles time signatures of up to 17 beats per measure. 24 beat variations with 6 rhythm types. Allows for the combination of different beats for working with syncopated passages or odd time signatures. I used it for years and never had to change the battery. Its another high-pitched beepy metronome.

| | | | I used to have a Seiko analog metronome that you dialed a wheel to the tempo you wanted. I ended up losing it in a practice room and So I had to settle for some piece of **** digital Quik-Time one. It's not so bad, but it has different clicks for 4/4 and 3/4 time, so you're force in to ignoring the different beeps. |

The more granularity the better and a big plus if you can dial up tempos below 40 bpm. An A440 tuning note is pretty standard as is a flashing LED and the ability to turn off the beep and have just the flashing LED. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
