What is this harmonic called?

I was jamming last night and when the guitarist took a break i was fooling around with my tone. Instead of (i guess you'd call it plucking) the string with my index finger I kind of tapped the top of the G string. My left hand was off the fingerboard completely, (meaning I wasn't making a typical harmonic on the fifth/seventh/twelfth fret etc.).

I used to play guitar and I know there were artificial harmonics available there. This seems to me like the same theory (a "pluck" followed by a slight/soft choking of the string's vibration all on the right hand (for a right handed player))). Similar to the artificial harmonics it had a sweet spot where it really rang out (on my bass (a P) it was dead center on where my tugbar is placed.)

I'm really just curious to know if this is an official thing that I can research and expand.

(((((((((sorry for all these parenthesis)))))))))

Jaco I think is more known for natural and pinched harmonics. I'd check out Stu Hamm and Billy Sheehan for examples of tapped harmonics
